Parrot Feather
Myriophyllum aquaticum
Parrot feather also knows as Myriophyllum aquaticum is a
floating aquatic oxygenating pond plant. You can plant parrot
feather around you water garden pond or you can simply place it in
the pond floating. Parrot feather has a way of rooting itself when
it gets to the sides of your pond. It has soft feathery leaves and
can grow quite well when planted. Parrot feather has attractive
submerged leaves and grows best in full sun. The leaves are a
yellow-green colour and can spread quite well in good conditions.
When grown along the side of your pond it can crawl up your rocks
making a very nice natural pond effect. Parrot feather is an
oxygenating pond plant. Goldfish and koi love this water plant as
it's another great pond plant for spawning and laying their eggs
on. You'll often see you goldfish and koi deep inside followed by
the male as the female leaves her eggs all over the soft feathery
branches and stems of this plant. Parrot feather offers great
protection for young baby fry as they look for places to hide from
other bigger fish.
