DIRECTIONS:
Place in pond early in spring ( it takes a few weeks to take
effect ). Hold in place with a rock, preferably near the water
fountain, so its algae blocking effect can be dispersed.
HOW IT WORKS:
As barley straw begins to rot, it releases its lignins into the
water. Sunlight and oxygen then convert these lignins into humic
acid. Humic acid is toxic to algae, but has no effect on higher
plants, such as water hyacinths or lilies and non toxic to pond
fish.
