Water hyacinths prefer and grow best in full sun and will bloom with pale blue or pale purple flowers in late summer. There is no need for planting these water plants as they are floating pond plants. These pond plants can reproduce and multiply quickly under the proper conditions so as your water hyacinths grow and multiply simply discard the rest to keep them under control.
Tropical floating aquatic plants such as water hyacinths is hardy from zone 9-11. These water plants will not survive the winter in Canada. Please also note that these plants are an invasive species and are restricted from some Countries and States. These floating pond plants are not winter hardy. Before buying water plants for ponds check with your local state laws regarding purchasing plants.

Water hyacinths will help clean your water and also provide shade and protection for pond fish fro predators.
Please note you cannot place water hyacinths outside until the last frost has passed. You can place them indoors in a heated aquarium until it’s safe.
